The autopsy table is typically a slanted, aluminium table with raised edges that has several faucets and drains used to wash away collecting blood during the internal investigation.

The types of tables used vary from facility to facility. The table features a roller system where the body tray can be directly loaded without need to lift the body manually, specially designed to increase the ergonomics when transferring bodies from the transport trolley to the autopsy table.
